The Irish Association of Creative Arts Therapists (iacat) is the accrediting body of creative arts therapists in Ireland and oversees the development and training of single modality MA courses in Art therapy, Dance Movement therapy, Dramatherapy and Music therapy.
"Similar to many other professional associations we produced a printed Journal every year for our members. While the printed journal played a part in facilitating the IACAT to bring important Creative Art Therapy developments, papers and submissions to the attention of members, it's reach was limited, production expensive and somewhat inflexible. We looked carefully at the business case and decided to invest in moving the IACAT journal online, so that we could (i) reach a wider audience (ii) provide a platform for continuous submissions, (iii) provide a search-able archive for all articles in the future."
It was great to get the opportunity to demonstrate and flex our own design creativity by working on a project more in the "Art" design space rather than the usually more conservative corporate sector. Our goal was to reflect "creativity" in the production of a modern and "Art" magazine type layout and design ethic.
In addition to design and development we built and integrated a custom CMS to facilitate easy article submission, graphic/artwork management and editorial control.
